Hot band in. Laser-scribed, certified coil out.

Seven process stages turn American hot band into finished grain-oriented steel — an eighth puts it on your dock. Every line is specified with Tenova, one of the few OEMs worldwide that can build a complete GOES finishing line.

GOES-grade hot band arrives by rail from U.S. mills, is inspected, edge-slit to width, and staged to the line.

Strips the mill scale in acid and sets the starting microstructure for cold reduction.

03Cold rolling (RCM)

The 20-high reversing mill takes the strip to final gauge in successive passes — the heart of the mill we are rebuilding on this site.

Burns residual carbon out of the strip and lays down the MgO separator that keeps wraps from welding in the long anneal.

A days-long box anneal near 1,200 °C drives secondary recrystallization: the Goss grain consumes the matrix, and the steel's easy axis lines up with the rolling direction.

Thermal flattening under tension, then the insulating top coat is applied and baked on — the film that isolates lamination from lamination in the core.

Transverse laser scribing refines the magnetic domain spacing — the step that cuts core loss to premium grade — with 100% surface inspection and per-coil magnetic testing.
